Hey there,
I'm Kirk and go by CaptKirk42 on most card sites, even on my Ebay. Some of you might remember me from card sites and some of those older now defunct sites. Elsewhere on the internet I use my "klandersen" handle sometimes with a 42 as well. I've been a card collector all my life, as well as a collector/hoarder of other stuff. Since finding card collecting sources online around the mid 2000s I have amassed so many cards I got overwhelmed years ago and have never really recovered. My move in 2008 from family home to 1 bedroom apartment with den (now classified as a two bedroom apt) didn't help and made things a bit worse for ware. So finding specific stuff sometimes takes awhile.
Anyway my major focus is vintage baseball and vintage football pre-1980s. Except for my Washington Teams. The move of the Montreal Expos to Washington DC to become The Nationals 2.0 (or Senators 3.0 or whatever) and some of the better recent Redskin/Wash Football Team/Commanders players (How 'bout that Jayden Daniels?) gives me a little motivation to stick with some modern stuff at least base and occasional auto cards. I prefer on-card to the on-sticker "stickergraphs". Not big on relics of any kind. Also not into the digital only stuff. Too me that isn't collecting it is data storing.
I also have a few of those "niche" collections like players that share my birthday (04 April), my first name "Kirk" and last name "Andersen" or some variant spelling and the occasional University of Maryland player in MD uniform, even though I didn't attend that college it is my "Homie" college here in Maryland. Mascots, Also occasionally players with the same name as other celebs like "Michael Jackson" or "Mike Tyson" that sort of thing is fun, but dang it adds to the mess and quick disorganization.
As linked in my signature I still am attempting to complete the 1965 Topps Baseball set for my "Strive For '65" set build that is about 60% done (technically 63% now). I originally wanted to have it completed 10 years ago for the 50th anniversary but at that point I didn't yet get to 50% complete. I'm not getting any younger and might not be around for the big 75th Anniversary. Still need a Mantle and some of his Yankee buddies like Maris as well as some of the other expensive big boys I don't have yet. Of course I want the better conditions, but I will accept lesser conditions, even creases or a little paper loss but I need to be able to read all the printed text stuff, stats on the back are fun to read and the comic. I have been fortunate not to have too many super awful beaters.
That is all for now.
