I wanted to take a minute to try to explain my reasoning for starting SCA because, let's face it, one of the main thoughts that folks have is "oh great, like we really needed another sports card forum".

First, a little backstory, for those who don't already know. When I first found out about online trading forums back in 2008 there was only one forum that stood out to me as one that I really wanted to be a part of, and that was TCC (TradingCardCentral.com), which is now closed and will soon be forgotten by most. I visited every sports card forum I could find, but TCC truly stood out to me because of the community aspect of the site. The members seemed to all get along great. There was conversation about cards, family, and life in general. It wasn't only about the cards and trading. I loved that! So, it only took me a few days to decide that's what I wanted to be a part of, so I joined that site, and no others. I was quickly welcomed, with open arms, into the community...and not just as a new member...as one of them. My Tony Parker collection had already started and I had folks sending me free Tony Parker cards within my first week of joining the site. People were asking me questions about it, wanting to see more. Not long into my time on TCC I became a member of the Membership Team, the Content and Graphics team, and was eventually promoted to the Content and Graphics team leader. Life on TCC was great, and then the owner of the site all but disappeared and things slowly started to go downhill. The point is, the members of TCC truly cared about the other members, and not JUST their collections, on TCC.

So, when I came back into the hobby recently, I didn't really have a place that I called "home". Obviously there were still those sites that I used to own but neither of them felt like "home" to me anymore and, nothing against any of those sites but, for me personally, they didn't seem to have that "community" vibe that I once had on TCC. I wanted to try to re-create what TCC once had in something new, and SCA was born. There was always a plan for "Sports Card Arena", but it never included a forum until fairly recently, when I decided to try to re-create TCC. I'd done it once, with TCZ (Trading Card Zone), and I want to do it again here.

So, why SCA?

Because I think the hobby needs a site that is more than just buying, selling, and trading. I think we need a community of collectors who enjoy each other and each other's collections. I want SCA to be the place where members join and immediately feel like they're part of something special and not just another place to trade cards. I want to see your collections. I want to talk to you about them, help you find cards for them, and see your collections grow. Not only that, but I want to know about your life successes and I want to encourage you when times are tough. I want this site to be more about the collectors themselves than about the cards. Of course the cards are what bring us all here, but it doesn't have to stop there. I care about people, and I want this site to reflect that.

I really like this idea, the future looks good!
