Any Interest In a Bulk PSA Sub Group?

Just curious if anyone would be interested in a bulk PSA submission group here on the site? I have several cards that I'd like to get graded, so I was thinking if anyone else regularly has some, too, I wouldn't mind paying for the annual fee to join their club membership. With that, the subs would only cost us $16.99 per card. Worth noting, that does come with a 45 day processing time, but I'd mostly be doing my PC items anyways so that's not really all that important to me.

I wouldn't take a fee per card for myself, either, so you'd pay $16.99 (plus tax if they charge me tax) per card, plus shipping to me, and shipping back to you. I'd cover shipping to PSA. Everything else we could work out when the time comes.

I'm thinking we'd do it so that each time we get one submission back, we'd immediately start a new one and keep it going like that as long as we have enough cards to keep submitting.

If anyone is interested in this let me know you're interested and how many cards you think you might be able to submit on the first shot. I might be looking to start this in a few months (May or June, maybe?). I think we need 20-25 cards per submission to get that price.

So how much would it look like per card including the shipping and fees?

I'm honestly not sure. All you'd pay me up-front would be the $16.99 per card (plus taxes if they charge me taxes). Then you'd pay to have the card(s) shipped to me. I'll cover shipping from me to PSA for everything. Once I get all the cards back, I'd build a package and invoice everyone on the exact amount of shipping for each package back to you. I'd prefer to send everything back to everyone in a priority flat-rate box, but I'd be happy to ship however y'all wanted if you're looking to save money. So, really, it could be anywhere from $5 for a standard bubble mailer up to something like $25 for a large flat-rate box, depending on the number of cards you have graded.

As I said, I'm not looking to make a penny out of this deal. Just trying to grade some cards myself, and save some money while doing it. I figured if everyone else had some cards to grade, this might could save us all a bit of money.

I have 3 I want to grade at the moment

PSA's value grading, without the bulk discount, is $24.99 per card so if you're doing three cards you'd pay $24.99 each, plus shipping to PSA. With me you'd pay shipping twice, but only $16.99 per card. So you'd save $24 on the grading, but have to pay a second shipping charge. For three cards, it would definitely not cost $24. Three cards would fit in a small flat-rate ($10) or, like I said, I could save you another $4-5 if you wanted me to ship back to you in a standard bubble mailer.

Sounds good, hopefully this gets enough interest.

now that I think of it, I have 3-6 I would want to grade (depends on how much I can spend). It might also help if you
put up a thread about this on the Bench and SCC as well. Just a suggestion

I have some I’d like graded. Although, I’d start with just 1. Never really felt comfortable submitting 1,000’s in value at one time. Our trusty USPS makes me very nervous…. Maybe UPS a better way to go. Idk

Oh, I agree with that! I was very nervous when I sent off my black refractor Tony Parker to have it graded. Luckily it made it back, and graded at a 9, so I was one happy man when I got it back!

Just be careful of the dreaded PSA upcharge. If your card grades well enough and carries a premium value, PSA can and will upcharge you. I dont know what the threshold is but it is worth looking into. I use SGC for my PC cards (I love the look) but PSA does carry higher value for resale.

I did notice that. I wasn't thinking, especially up front, that we'd have any cards that cross that line.

Just as an FYI, the price per card is actually $19.99. The $16.99 price I originally put up is only for TCG cards. For sports cards, it's $19.99, which is still $5 per card cheaper than the base price for bulk submissions.

Also, to @Prosefan1's point, cards submitted via the bulk submission must have a maximum value of $500. This is the fair market value, so what the card would sell for in the open market. If the card, in PSA's mind, is worth more than that, they may charge an adjusted grading fee, which isn't cheap. So, you'd want to be sure your card is worth under $500.

Finally, I have pretty much decided to just sign up so I'll likely be starting a thread about the first submission sometime within the next few weeks so, if you're interested, be on the lookout for that!

I would definitely be in for this. I have a PSA membership, but usually don’t send stuff unless it’s during a special. This is a pretty good value. Didn’t see if this had been asked or not, but do we get better rates if we build up a bigger sub?

As far as I can tell, the $19.99/card is the cheapest available rate for sports cards but, once I sign up for their collector service, I'll see if it offers something else.
