WTTF: 72-73 Topps Basketball

In addition to that 1972 Topps high # I am interested in any high #s from the following years

1966 Topps #523-598
1967 Topps #534-609
1970 Topps #634-720
1972 Topps #657-787

I'd prefer decent opies of any of those but if you have lower grade high #s I still may be interested in them if priced by condition.

And in a shocking request do you have any junk wax era cards in all 4 major sports? I have a crazy amount of 1 and done, 2 and done sets that I'd like to complete. If so, I can PM you or post those want lists here.
I’ll get through my other high numbers tonight after I get my son to bed.

Just curious, where are you seeing this? My OPG shows $20-50 and past eBay sales for this card, ungraded, are well under $50.

Unless I'm maybe looking at the wrong card? 🤔
I'm looking at an old Beckett's Vintage guide from 2021. However, on the other site Rotorob just gave me the Spencer Haywood $120 value from Beckett's OPG. I actually posted a question about that card because I was shocked at what my paper guide said. Sure enough the values matched up.

Here is that threa and you can see my shock at the Haywood bv. If Haywood's is stiill $120 then i stands to reason the more famous Artis Gilmore's RC would hold steady as well. We can check with Rob next time we see him on the Gilmore BV

Yeah, the Haywood is $50-120. Not sure why it's higher than the Gilmore, but it definitely is. I've checked it a few times tonight just to make sure I'm looking at the right card.

Maybe the '71 set pricing hasn't been updated in a while and the '72 set has? 🤷‍♂️

I'm interestd in them if they are valued by condition. Thanks for looking for those.
Definitely valued by condition, I wouldn’t expect NM value for VG cards. I will still need to find you cards for the amount of cards you have for me I would imagine. Let me know where we stand and what else you may be after modern or vintage wise and I will get you a list of some other cards.

That repricing of one but not the other is a possibility. That is weird because those two sets are extremely similar and you'd assume if one set's prices were readjusted so would the other. I never asked for a price check on the 72-73s I am trading because there is nothing spectacular in the lot. Rotorob even mentioned the 71-72 Nate Archibald RC was $100 which matches exactly with my paper guide.

Curious as to what your OPG says the 72-73 Dr. J RC books for. Anxious to see if that changed from my 4 year old guide.

Beckett's has become exceedingly reckless and lazy in their pricing in recent years. When Kobe Bryant died his Topps RC went from $15 to $60 to a whopping $600 in a 2-3 month time period. Yet for years their paper guide listed a complete set of 96-97 Topps at $40 despite having a $600 card in it.

Assuming I'm looking at the right one it's listed as $300-600. The only reason I wonder about the listing is because it's listed like this: "1972-73 Topps #195 Julius Erving RC/ (Forward on front,/but Center on back)". I don't know enough about the card, and haven't looked it up, to know whether that means this is an error card, or if all of his rookies are like that. If they're all like that, I don't know why they felt the need to add that to the listing. If they're not all like that, then I'm not sure why there's not another card listed without that specification.

I don't think it's just recent years. I've found discrepancies with Beckett's pricing since I started collecting. It's a big reason why I don't deal with BV unless it's a low-end card. On any mid-high-end cards ($20+ cash value), I go by past sales, where available, or comparable card sales (SV). The only exceptions to that are if I'm trading for a PC card that I really want. Then I'll kinda flow with whatever the other trader wants to roll with, as long as it's not too much of a lopsided deal in sale/cash value.
